CAGW: Porker of the Month

Citizens Against Government Waste is a group of people that look at pork projects and put them into light. This will hopefully, someday, put an end to government waste in the form of pork-barrelling.

For the month of November CAGW name:

Rep. James Clyburn (D) from South Carolina

Clyburn put $3 million dollars in the Defense budget for the First Tee Golf Program.

I know a little bit about this program. It basically works on getting kids active in golf. I support kids playing golf but $3 million dollars in the Defense budget. I don’t think so.

CAGW says this:

“On November 8, 2007, Rep. Clyburn defended his wedge of pork on the House floor, “[T]his request was made by me, and my name is attached to it because I’m very, very proud of it.” The earmark is not the only project with which his name is associated. In August 2007, the City of Columbia Golf Center was renamed the James E. Clyburn Golf Center and a statue of him was erected outside the facility.”

How lovely….

  1. That’s great for the kids, but really 3Million, I could think of many ways to spend that on our nation. That and not having it in the defense budget, way to try to be secretive.
