Separation of State and Economics?

This quote is from Ayn Rand’s book Capitalism:

“Government control on the economy, no matter on whose behalf, has been the source of all the evils in our industrial history – and the solution is laissez-faire capitalism, i.e., the abolition of any and all forms of government intervention in production and trade, the separation of State and Economics, in the same way and for the same reasons as the separation of Church and State.”

What are the reasons for the separation of Church and State? Too name a few:

– one religion isn’t chosen superior over the other.
– everyone has the freedom to choose what church, where to go, how to do it.
– when involving various religious ideas no one will ever agree completely and it is not fair to force your rights on others.

We have often heard “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

Why can’t we substitute religion for Economic activity, whether its buy goods or start a business?
