Merry Christmas

Milton Friedman Greyscale

Merry Christmas to all my readers…

As you open your gifts on this largest consumer based economic day of the year, think about this quote:

"Many people want the government to protect the consumer. A much more urgent problem is to protect the consumer from the government." ~Milton Friedman

What does this mean to you? Do you think the free market will weed out bad producers? Like the factories in China and the lead toys…

That’s it enjoy your families….

  1. First, there’s no such thing as a “free market.” It’s a concept that doesn’t exist.

Second, considering the ignorance and downright stupidity of most Americans, they’ll continue to buy this cheap Chinese crap regardless of how much lead is contained within it.

When the framers wrote the Constitution, they gave Congress the authority to regulate foreign trade under Article I, Section 8. We’ve had a Customs service since 1789. It’s about time that the Federal government uses its constitutional powers to put a stop to these unsafe imports instead of living with the utopian mindset of naive libertarians who think that the market is some kind of moral force in and of itself.
