All Tied Up

Well guess what? The Hillary won some delegates and now the Dems are all basically tied up again. After essentially wining in state primaries on Tuesday, Clinton has narrowed Obama’s lead to only 96 delegates. Considering future primaries and un-pledged, the race is basically tied.

On more than on occasion, I mentioned how it’s rare to see a nomination race so tied up for so long. Even though it is a Democratic nomination, this race has been unusually close.

I find this interesting considering the runoff in November. While it’s obvious that either Hillary or Obama will take the Democratic ticket, its quite uncertain who the running mate will be. This is significant, because of the moderate-stance of McCain. The the make-up of the Democratic ticket alone will influence how many moderate votes McCain picks up in November. While it may also seem obvious that the loser of the Democratic nomination will instantly become the running mate, this has not always been the case.

Who knows, maybe a long Democratic nomination race will stir up lots of bad feelings, and give McCain a slight edge in November!
