Free Speech/Patriot Act Alert

It seems that Patriot Act type of tactics are beginning to surface with online posting. This from a Kentucky News Outlet:

“Kentucky Representative Tim Couch filed a bill this week to make anonymous posting online illegal.

The bill would require anyone who contributes to a website to register their real name, address and e-mail address with that site.”

This is nonsense and should not pass. The reasoning for it is to stop bullying online. I had posted about stuff like this earlier, where people bully people and someone commits suicide. Then pretty soon you have the community demanding laws to restrict freedom of speech.

Anonymous posting is good for the country and good for websites like this. This blog is here for people to ask questions without feeling stupid. It is also here to have debates.

The job of a parent is to make sure that their kids do not get caught in bullying or being bullied by online people. Not the job of the government.
