Breaking News: Voter Intimidation at George Mason University!

It seems someone has hacked George Mason University’s email system here are the following emails sent out by the provost:

“Dear Mason Students,

Many are understandably inquiring about voting and its uncertainties. While we urge students definitely to vote but also where possible to schedule voting in relation to their classes, we understand that not everything can be precisely determined. We sent the following note to faculty last week, hoping that it will help:

Mason’s Student Government is organizing vans to take students to the relevant polling place (Woodson High School) to vote on Election Day. While students will presumably avoid conflicts with class time to the greatest extent possible, some timing issues may prove to be beyond their control. Student Government has asked me to request understanding from faculty should students be late to class as a result, and I hope my colleagues will agree that some flexibility is reasonable in the circumstances.

Peter N. Stearns”

This was then followed by this:

“To the Mason Community:

Please note that election day has been moved to November 5th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Peter N. Stearns”

And then this came out:

“To the Mason Community:

I hear some troubling rumors, so here are a couple of facts: 1. The election is Nov. 4, for all political parties. The notion that one party votes Nov. 5 is UNTRUE. 2. It is also UNTRUE that any student jeopardizes financial aid by voting.

Peter N. Stearns”

All sent out perfectly through the provost’s email.

New Email

Dear Colleagues,

It has come to my attention early this morning that a message was hacked into the system fraudulently stating that election day has been moved.  I am sure everybody realizes this is a hoax, it is also a serious offense and we are looking into it.  Please be reminded that election day is today, November 4th.

Peter N. Stearns

Some reportedly got the second email after the third email.
